Thanks for your contribution.

I totally agree with you.

One of the things that got under my skin after this post was published was the number of big name gurus who came late to the party and tried to stir up controversy by blaming everybody who fell for Joel Comm's initial sales letter as if no attempt to conceal the forced continuity had been made.

Did you feel that way too?

To me, it makes more sense to be as transparent as possible in order to establish a reputation. Making short term money though deception is, well, a short term experience.

Unfortunately, this practice has become all-too-common. Personally, I would stay away from sites & people who engage in this behavior.

Those internet marketers should be ashamed of what they do. Unfortunately, I've encountered this practice at companies which seem trustful, like Yahoo search Marketing. Once you set up a campaign and you input your PayPal data, as soon as your funds are low, you are automatically billed $30 more. And there's no button for canceling your account. You have to write them, then they call you, and only after that you manage to get your account canceled.

I don't understand why they cannot just wait for my funds to end, then stop my campaigns if I don't send them any more money. By billing me again 3 days before ending the money means actually that I never can consume all the money I have in my account.

Jeff,

Excellent summary and analysis of the Clicknewz discussion on forced continuity. I especially liked this:

"I’m not against online marketers making money by providing quality content to their customers. This is what makes our world go round. I just want to make sure the next time I go to purchase their product I don’t think twice because I don’t have the time to have my lawyer look over the sales letter."

Good one!
